Everlasting Gospel
In the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ
In the Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ
Now and forever more. Amen
There is nothing that God cannot do with mere words if only one believes. When I came back from overseas in 1970, after five years of absence I was confronted with the same problems I left behind. In fact, the situation was worse than I had left it.
The problems centered more on my family (my parents' compound). My brothers made no progress at all. Those who had the benefit of secondary education became ill towards the end of their school career. One of my brothers, an engineer, was ill before my departure to abroad. I came back five years after to meet him still very ill. His condition had worsened.
There was depression. A family which was in the forefront in our area was now disintegrating. I became very disturbed. Before I left Nigeria in 1965, we tried and spent money to find out the cause and possible solutions to our problems. We tried to get those ill cured. It was fruitless.
While I was pondering on the cause of our problems, news came to me about the existence of a spiritual church, the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star. The stories were conflicting. The story was that one man called Obu was caught in fishing net. He was reported to have had a human head with a crayfish body. I heard about him as a man whose face could only be seen but not any other part of the body.
These stories were told by both literate and illiterate people of the Cross River State. Another side of the stories was that the man had the power to reveal hidden things and to predict the future through visioners.
There was a lady by name Ikwo who lived a mile away from us who had the spiritual gift of revealing hidden things. I decided to go for her. After a short discussions Ikwo agreed to follow me to my father's compound.
I was watching her very closely to see if she had any object she often used to enhance her power. All Ikwo, a visioner of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star asked for was water, in a bowl. I provided this water which was placed on a table.
After singing spiritual songs and prayer, Ikwo carried this bowl of water round my father's compound. She sprinkled the water. On getting to one spot, Ikwo asked for a matchet. She requested that that particular spot be dug. When this was done, I was very much surprised that charms were dug out from that spot. Other occupants of my father's compound were also surprised. What surprised me most was that it was the water which I myself provided which the Brotherhood visioner used in sprinkling around the compound until she got to a spot where on her directive charms were dug out. Neither incense nor candle was used. I then decided to ignore all kinds of stories. I was convinced of the power of God in this church so I started going for prayers in the Brotherhood bethel in the evenings.
By this time my husband, Dr. Edet Akpan Udo of the University of Calabar, had gone back to overseas to resign his appointment in preparation for his final return home. When he came back finally in 1971 with two serious illnesses, I told him about the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star and pleaded with him to join the organisation so that his illness could be cured. My husband refused.
I was determined to continue to attend Brotherhood bethels in the evenings. Apart from my problems in my father's compound, I had three daughters. I was in dire need of a male child. A vision was given to me that God had promised to answer my prayers.
After sometime, I made it clear to my husband that at my age, I was not prepared to start taking care of someone with chronic illness who has refused to seek solution to his problems. When my husband saw that I meant what I said he joined me in the Brotherhood. We went and met the Sole Spiritual Head of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, Leader Olumba Olumba Obu. After he had prayed for us, Leader Olumba Olumba Obu proclaimed: "Go, I have solved all your problems." When we came back home, the frustrating illness of my husband over which he had sought and obtained the best medical attention abroad but had no cure, now vanished. My husband was well.
With the joy of my husband's dramatic recovery still with us, I had another vision that male child was around the comer. That was about 1972. Three months after this vision I became pregnant. When the time came for delivery, it was discovered that the baby was standing head up. That gave me much inconvenience. Since I was ignorant about the work in Brotherhood, I followed instructions given to me by the visioners only partially.
When my condition became difficult during pregnancy, I was taken to a hospital at Enugu. There Leader Olumba Olumba Obu appeared to me in the dream and told me that the will of God in me will triumph provided I heeded instructions.
Shortly afterwards, members of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star came all the way from Port Harcourt and Enugu to pray for me in the Hospital. They had visions that they should attend to me in that hospital. One of them came from Umuahia.
The baby eventually moved to normal position. I had a safe delivery. Alas, the baby was a boy - as I had prayed God to provide and as the visioners of the Brotherhood had told me. I was very happy.
One of my daughters was always very sick despite all the medical aid we gave to her. Now we are in the Brotherhood. We placed our hope on what Leader Olumba Olumba Obu will do for this child. One of the members of the Brotherhood came to our house in Calabar. After praying for my daughter and bathing her, charm was removed from the head of my daughter. It was a big ring. My daughter regained her health and has not been subjected to frustrating ill-health since then. What Leader Olumba Olumba Obu has done for me since He called me into the Brotherhood fold are many. My faith has been strengthened. I thank the Holy Father for His wonderful blessings.
