VERSE 1
He comes poor sinners like us to save,
Not minding all the shame to the grave,
Which the Jews on Him bestowed.

Now in His glory comes;
Now in His glory comes;
The shame bestowed on Him by the Jews,
Is turned now a glorious crown.

VERSE 2
The Lord was crowned with a crown of thorns.
They gave Him vinegar when athirst;
He suffered for sinners sake.

VERSE 3
They jeered and spat all over His face;
On His side, with a sword, they did pierce,
He willingly bore them all.

VERSE 4
They beat and kicked tormenting the Lord;
The people mocked, laughing Him to scorn;
He willingly bore them all.
