VERSE 1
In the beginning was the word,
The word was with God,
Who made all things by the word,
And the word was God.

VERSE 2
The same was in the beginning,
God’s word made all things,
Without Him was nothing made,
Which was ever made.

VERSE 3
In Him was life and the life too,
Was the light of men;
In darkness shinest the light,
Uncomprehended.

VERSE 4
The true light, which leads every man,
That comes to the world,
Came unto His own as man,
But was ne’er received.

VERSE 5
Yea! the word made flesh dwells with men;
All who Him receive,
Them gives He pow’r to remain,
E’er with Him as sons.
