VERSE 1
Lord Jesus ere He died on the cross,
To the Father prayed,
Forgive them Lord, they know not what they do.

VERSE 2
See how He was shamefully disgraced,
See how He suffered;
He was given vinegar when athirst.

VERSE 3
He was buffeted and spat upon,
And upon His head,
They placed on a roughly made crown of thorns.

VERSE 4
Why hast Thou forsaken me oh God?
Lo! the Saviour cried,
For the redemption of the human race.

VERSE 5
Gushed out from His side water and blood,
Which by lance was pierced,
From which the transgression of man is washed.
