VERSE 1
That torture of the Lord Upon the tree
That aweful death of the Lord and suffering,
All show His love for sinful man.

VERSE 2
Behold they mocked, see how they jeered at Him,
See how they slapped, disgraced Him for mankind
He uttered not even a word.

VERSE 3
Tribulation and anguish who would bear?
'Cause of His love for all men, He pleaded,
"Dear Father, please forgive them all";

VERSE 4
The words of love He uttered were seven,
Upon the cross to show love and mercy,
Releasing life and peace to man.

VERSE 5
Lord who would e'er be likened unto thee?
Who else in love and mercy, is like Thee?
Who else has giv’n his life for man?

VERSE 6
Make us like Thee possess love and mercy,
That we may, one another's burden bear,
And with our neighbours, dwell in peace.
