Hymn 854

VERSE 1
We give thanks to Thee Olumba Obu,
Lord of heaven and earth.
For this great gift which Thou givest:
Accept our thanks, O! Lord;
Behold a baby before Thee,
On it blessings bestow.

VERSE 2
May it grow up to be good and humble,
Its family to grace;
A child of love and obedience,
And joy to its parents;
Endow it with Thy zeal we pray,
Lord, in Thy house to serve.

VERSE 3
In Sunshine or rain, in drought or in flood,
Thy protection we seek,
And in the night, the time of sleep,
Guard, protect it O! Lord:
Let not the pow'r of enemies
O'er come Thy child, we pray.

VERSE 4
May the Holy Spirit, Lord, by Thy grace
Abide with this Thy child,
Keeping it among the chosen,
And in reverence to Thee:
Make it a perfect child of Thine;
Let it be sanctified.
