Hymn 922

VERSE 1
As darkness falls, we fervently pray:
O! Lord, while we sleep, defend and guard;
Throughout the night, let angels surround
Protecting till break of day.

VERSE 2
As darkness progresses through the night,
Comforter divine, be Thou with us;
Of crafty wiles and the demon's crew
May we never fall their prey.

VERSE 3
O! Lord, let us in Thy bossom lie,
On Thy graceful arms, our heads to rest;
Around us spread the wings of Thy love;
In peace may we rest till down.

VERSE 4
Shine on our souls, Thou pure light of all,
While we, in Thy bosom still do lie;
Virtues increase and our youth renew;
With us the new day begin.

Amen
